[1359]
Secretary of State South Carolina; Member of Legislature for Christ Church Parish 1780-81. (Vol. 34) m. Dorothy Waring at Nassau New Providence, lady of John Vanderhorst Esq. Sec’ty of State and daughter of Thomas Waring (Vol. XX). His will proved 1787—very sad—he is doubtful of life and if he will have heirs, in case he has not, he leaves the sum of money to be equally divided between the children of his uncle, Elias, in the City of Bristol. Property to his kinsman John, son of Arnoldus, to his wife Dorothy, and sister Sabinah. (His brother James has predeceased him). Part of his property is on the Toogolo river—a Bounty from the State for his services as Major. He leaves £1,000 to Mount Zion Society for use in College of Winsboro.
