damNAtion!

I went to hang the window screen today, only to find that it’s about a quarter of an inch too wide at the top, and to fix that I’m going to have to pull the top apart, cut a new header, and re-construct everything.

Meantime I finished stretching the compost pen wire, which means I can begin going around the yard and scooping up piles of leaves and such, and transferring them to the pen.  Also in for work were the front flower beds, where I got some of the overgrown grass turned over with a spading fork and pulled out, and an unidentified set of bulbs that I got up from the lawn are going into the fridge for hibernation.  The jonquils are coming up and out of the lawn next the fire hydrant for the same purpose, and the oxblood lilies are gonna get dug up and moved someplace else, probably at the southeast corner of the house where they’ll get good sun.  At some point I’ve also got to get working on transplanting roses, now the blooming season’s over and I can safely prune ’em.

I gave myself and the grubbing hoe a workout too, digging up a bunch of bamboo shoots and their root systems (at least, as much of the root systems as I could get out).

Peking indicts the lizard-like ROM chip.  Fnord.
