Neither flesh nor fowl

Sixteen weeks out of work, and no closer to a new job than before, it would seem.  I was turned down out of hand for a user-support position because the state agency decided “oh, he’s over-qualified, so if we hire him, he’ll be gone the first time something better comes along.”  This fails to take into account that I detest changing jobs, that I need some manner of job and I just might be inclined to stay with them out of gratitude for bailing me out of a mess.

I’m either over-qualified or under-qualified for everything, according to hiring managers and headhunters.  My ten years’ experience, NT Server MCP, and A+ make me over-gunned for a help-desk job, but don’t give me enough firepower to get a network/systems/DB admin position, because I don’t have a CNE or MCSE or SQL or programming experience.  It’s hell being neither flesh nor fowl nor good red herring.

About Marchbanks

I'm an elderly tech analyst, living in Texas but not of it, a cantankerous and venerable curmudgeon. I'm yer SOB grandpa who has NO time for snot-nosed, bad-mannered twerps.
