The wallet that was lost, is found. This morning L was bundling the newspapers for recycling collection (today is trash and recycling pickup day) and discovered my wallet in the newspaper basket, where it had apparently fallen from the arm of the sofa. I don’t know why I put it on the sofa arm, since that’s a place I don’t commonly lay it down; I suppose it must have made me uncomfortable while I was sitting there, and I pulled it out and set it there for the nonce. But however it is, now I don’t have to get a new Social Security number, and cancel and re-apply for every credit card I ever had, and get a new driver’s license, and kill all my ATM cards and get them re-issued . . . .
