The pathology specialist at the Mayo clinic has spoken, and his opinion is that L’s tumor is a giant-cell granuloma, which is the one we hoped it would be. That means she won’t need more surgery until such time as the doctor’s ready to start reconstruction which, L just told me, will probably be two years away rather than one (I’m not sure exactly why; I know he wanted to do nothing for a year to watch for possible recurrence, but why to wait another year after that puzzles me.)
