What was that lesson you learned, Sam?

The one you learned going to Volunteer Fire Department meetings with Dad, when you were about eight?  The one about “never walk away from a pan of oil heating on the stove?”  I just got a very practical demonstration of what happens when I forget this lesson.

Fortunately, I did remember the other lesson, the one about “never throw water on a grease fire,” and the other other lesson about “put out a grease fire by slapping a lid on the pan, to choke off its air supply.”  Because I remembered those two, I only have a house full of smoke instead of a house that’s burning down.

The pencil LED illuminated the Chrysler Building gargoyles.  Fnord.
